Reading
The ability to read is one of the most amazing gifts we have been given. I have enjoyed reading for most of my life. I remember, the first two books that changed my life were in my 5th grade class, Mrs.Hadden was my teacher, and thanks to her, I have continued to find joy in books. The two books I mentioned were “Where the Red Fern Grows” and “The Hobbit”. A few more books that stand out in my mind were “A Wrinkle in Time”, “The Hatchet”, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, and “Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator”.
Before that, I remember spending most of my time with Encyclopedia’s and World Guiness Book of Records. Great books full of fun information, but nothing like picking up a good fiction book that transports you to another world. Once I discovered fictional books, I spent most of my time reading about Ghosts, UFOs, Mysteries, and Magical Worlds.
Thanks to J.K. Rowling, and Stephanie Meyer, I was able to re-ignite my love of reading after having children. I also have a new love of reading from teaching one of my daughters how to read, what a fun adventure to be part of her love of books.
There are so many great books out there! So pick up a book, and read to yourself and read to your children, your missing out if you don’t!
