— hur·ri·er noun

I say this word way too much to my children. I have been trying not to rush them as much the last couple of weeks. I try to get them ready way before it is time to leave but they just somehow manage to barley make it out the door at times.

I decided, life is too short to be in a hurry. My kids need to enjoy life and it should not be such a rush. I need to be better prepared so that we can get places on time without rushing my kids. They need to be able to get ready at their speed, so if that means I have them start getting ready a lot earlier, I will.

I like the idea of slowing down, I think the kids will too!

I do think they need to understand when we have something to go to, that we need to be on-time. I just need to take the time to explain that to them and then we will all be on the same page! They are good kids and we are not always in a rush, but the times we are in a rush, a lot of the rush is my fault!

It is 2:08 AM, time to go to bed, I wasn’t in a hurry to get there tonight!
Goodnight!

Jena’s first Blurg of 2010!

Posted by jena on Jan 3, 2010 in Deep Thoughts, Goals

Happy New Year Peeps! I wasn’t home on the 1st to post my first post of the year, the 3rd works for me since I love the number three!

I am really looking forward to a new year. I love that the calendar starts all over and we get to celebrate holidays all over again. I love how people also look over the past and look to the future and make goals to progress in life.

I like that people have New Year’s Resolutions, I like to call mine goals. So, here are mine in no particular order:

  • Lose my last 60 lbs out of 120 lbs total
  • Get back into Archery, dust off the bow and shoot it!
  • De-Junk and Organize my house
  • Finish writing and illustrating my children’s picture book
  • Start writing my YA Paranormal novel
  • Write and Mail letters to friends and family
  • Go to school to become a personal trainer
  • Schedule Internet time
  • Go to bed earlier
  • Get up earlier
  • Run a lot of half marathons so that next year I can run a full!
  • Teach my 4 year old how to read
  • Help my 7 year old reach her goals and dreams
  • Do more for my husband
  • Remember to stop and take care of myself as much as possible
  • Not let people hurt me emotionally

Well, there it is, all possible if I commit and make an effort!

Here is to an amazing year!

The Mind is Amazing

Posted by jena on Oct 5, 2009 in Deep Thoughts, Exercise

One thing I have discovered with anything I do, specifically Running, is that I can talk myself into or out of doing it. Today, I seriously had to talk myself into not giving up and  keep running. It was cold(freezing cold!), my legs were burning that cold/hot burn, I was tired, I was pushing a stroller, bla bla bla….

I think it is interesting that just by saying to myself, “I can make it to my doorstep!”, my mind was ready to override my body that was saying “no I can’t! Let me freaking walk!”. I also find it interesting that if I tell myself “I can’t do it, I am too tired!”, my mind lets me fail, I let myself fail. I don’t know if this is even making sense, but basically what I am saying is, we can do anything if we keep a positive outlook and start saying ” I CAN!” instead of saying “I CAN’T!” with anything in our lives. Our minds are stronger than we think!
