I loved the movie, The Box. I wanted to see it in the theater, didn’t make it due to busy life. It came out on DVD this week so I rented it at Redbox. A lot of people hated it, but I really enjoyed it for a lot of reasons which I will now list!
- I loved the music, I felt like I was watching an old scifi thriller, or an old Bette Davis creepy movie.
- I loved the moral conflict, I love movies that make us think what we would do in certain situations.
- I loved the look of the movie, it looked like the 70’s .
- I loved the feel of the movie, it was creepy with out being super scary.
- I loved that there was no need for swearing, or extreme violence to make the movie intense.
- I loved the acting. Cameron Diaz and James Marsden were awesome!
- I loved that the kids were not evil! I hate scary movies where the kids are possessed and evil!
- I loved how it ended, it was surprising and a great twist!
I went out and bought the DVD and will be watching it with McKay this weekend. Luckily, McKay and I have the same taste in movies, so I look forward to hearing what he thinks and what he gets out of the movie.
I found out it was originally written by Richard Matheson, it was a short story called Button, Button that was also made into a Twilight Zone episode, which I think I may have seen. He also wrote I am Legend , which I still need to read.
Thank goodness for Redbox, you only need to waste a dollar and 2 hours of your life if The Box sounds interesting to you at all.

Movies
I love movies. All kinds of movies. One of my favorite kind of movies is zombie/post-apocalyptic movies. I know I am weird, but I just love how there are unbelievable things like zombies and aliens and I love reading and watching things that couldn’t possibly happen, but do happen thanks to the magic of movies and books!
We like to rent from the redbox. Every once in awhile, we find a good, not well known movie in the redbox. This week we rented Carriers which was a great, but a very depressing movie. I loved it though. I loved how real it felt, the emotions and actions in this movie were very realistic in my opinion.
I heard about this movie months ago and wanted to see it in the theater, but it was a limited release and not playing in Utah. Then I read it will be available to rent in December. Chris Pine and Piper Perabo are the stars of the movie. You follow them around on their quest to reach a beach hotel they think will be safe and they are also trying to avoid catching this airborne sickness that kills you quickly and makes you look like a zombie by the time you are dead. They also encounter other people along the way. It honestly shows how people who are trying to survive do things they would not normally do in everyday normal life!
If you do not like this type of movie, don’t rent it. It also has some cussing and an “F” word near the end of the movie. It is also a little violent at times when certain situations arise.

As promised, some pics from my GNO with my daughters and our friends, Chelsea and her daughter Stella!
First off, it was awesome. I got so excited and a little teary eyed, this was a dream come true. I laughed, clapped, enjoyed my daughters responses. When Dorothy opened the door after she landed, the girls at the same time responded, Moab with a “WOW” and Nahvi with a “Whoa”. They giggled, laughed out loud, and enjoyed every minute. Nahvi told her Dad when we got home. “We went to The Wizard of Oz and IT WAS AWESOME!” in her cute little raspy voice. They couldn’t stop talking about it, which is exactly what I hoped for. I know this will be a lasting Memory. They both wanted to know if we owned it so they could watch it again. Chelsea and I talked the whole way home about how awesome the experience was. It looked and sounded so, so good! The crowd was so much fun, giggling, laughing, clapping. It was amazing, I am so glad we went. Thanks for a wonderful night girls.
IT WAS OZSOME! Like my new word I invented? I do

A dream come true for me!
The Wizard of Oz is celebrating its 70th Anniversary. They are showing it in 440 theaters on Sept. 23rd. I am going to try to get tickets for me, the hubby and kids. I have seen some new photos and the HD Quality looks amazing!
If you can’t make it to a local theater on the 23rd, have no fear! You can watch it on October 3rd in HD on Netflix. Netflix announced that they will be offering it for FREE to watch on October 3rd without buy a Netflix membership. It will also work on your TiVo DVRs, Blue Ray DVD players, and X-BOX 360.
Exciting news!

Twilight
So, some friends of mine, Angela and Stacey invited me to go see Twilight with them again, this time with our Husbands!
It was so much fun! Our Hubbys all enjoyed it, McKay would actually like to read the book now. About half way through the movie he leaned over and said, ” I can see how this could be a good book…”
We also ran into Courtney and her Sis-in-Law and Brandi and her hubby who hooked us up with some fun, weird Japanese candy!
My take on the movie a second time around:
I loved it more than the first time. I was able to sit back and really enjoy it instead of being worried the whole time that I might hate a lot of it.
I LOVED IT! I got more into the actors this time, and sorry Edward, but for some strange reason, I am really liking some Jasper! Maybe I will dream that I am Alice, and I can drag around my cute little hurt face Jasper!
Very good movie, I would see it again, possibly at full price and for sure at the dollar theater, and yes, I will be buying it on DVD!
Thanks Hubby and thanks friends for another great night!

A friend of mine rented out an entire Theater for the premiere of Twilight!
How cool is that?
Well, Super Super cool in my opinion!!!
So, about 3 months ago I found out, made a phone call to some of my crazy fun friends, and by the end of the day had about 16 friends buy tickets with me, we are now up to 24 in our group. The first 16 of us got $5.00 gift cards to spend at the movie because we were in the first 100 crazy people to buy tickets! Woo Hoo!
So, a little more than a week to go and we will be sitting in the Theater making some memories!
Thanks to all my fun, wild and crazy friends who wanted to do this with me, I can’t wait!!!
Here is the Proof:

My ticket is here!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah!!

All of the tickets, I am getting ready to hand them all out. The yellow paper is my map I drew of where we are sitting. I know, I am a dork and proud of it!

All of the tickets sealed in envelopes, ready to deliver with our GNO flier, I cannot wait! Too fun….
Thanks again to everyone who ordered with me, this will be such a great night!

McKay and I went to Indiana Jones yesterday and it was fun for the most part, and it was an OK movie. It looked like it could fit in with the other 3, but there were a few things that bothered me. I won’t post them, I don’t want to spoil the movie, but I will say that it reminded me of "The Flintstones meet The Jetsons".
All in all, it was fun to watch, and I am glad I saw it on the big screen. I am glad I didn’t let the girls see it, there were some scary parts that would keep them up at night!
Speaking of "The Jetsons", we borrowed The Jetsons, season 1 from the Library, so the girls are watching them today. I watched a little of the first one with them, it made me laugh. Jane Jetson was exercising her fingers, so that she could be a better house wife, because all of her jobs require her to push a button, and she gets so exhausted pushing buttons so her food isn’t turning out very well!
Hehe, How would it be if the only stress that house wives these day’s had to worry about was that our fingers need a good workout… (how about all that Junk in my trunk, what do you say about that “Jane Jetson”! , stupid lazy fingers…)

P.S. Twilight Trailer gave me goose bumps….. So much better on the big screen, than on YouTube!

Family Fun,
Movies
Today we had quite the busy day. We took our little buddy to school on bikes, went to the park and played and had a Breakfast picnic, cleaned the house, had a snack, picked up  Anthony from school and took him home, had lunch, went to a little Birthday swimming party for Nahvi’s buddy next door, went to Nim’s Island at the dollar theatre….
Wow, it went by way too fast, I don’t know where the time goes…
Nim’s Island was a very good Kids movie. I enjoyed watching it as did Junie, Moab and Nahvi. My only complaint was that the ending was wrapped up too quickly, but it was a kids movie, so I shouldn’t expect more. I only paid 3 dollars for the 4 of us to watch it, so all in all it was good, cheap, and fun!

McKay and I went on a date Friday night and we decided to go see Cloverfield. I thought it was an intense movie, I was glad I saw it on the big screen. At times I had to look away, due to getting a little dizzy from the filming style, but other than that, the movie was fun to watch.
I do have a couple disclaimers for the movie:
1- Don’t take your children for Pete’s Sake!
2- If you get motion sickness from a lot of camera movement, don’t go see it on the big screen.
3- If you do get sick, but don’t care, at least be kind enough to buy an empty popcorn bucket.
4- Be prepared to hear the “S” word because the “Crap” hits the fan, a lot…
5- Very Intense, Scary, Fun movie to watch.

Documentaries,
Movies
First off, thanks to all those out there reading this silly blog. I have to admit, I blushed a little when I found out there were actually people out there reading my blog.
This summer, McKay and I were able to watch a lot of movies because he took the summer off from school. Now, we didn’t watch your “Normal” blockbuster hits, we somehow got hooked to Documetaries and Independent Movies. I don’t know if this was such a good thing, because now I am hooked and those types of movies are hard to find around here!
So, here is my list of my “favorite flavors”:
Supersize Me, Documentary: Wow, what an eye opener on how eating out should be kept at a minimum.
My Date with Drew, Documentary: Funny, Creative, and if you are a fan of Drew Barrymore you will really enjoy this movie.
New York Doll, Documentary: This was just an all around good movie about life and how anything is possible.
Emanual’s Gift, Documentary: Tear Jerker, but an amazing story about a young man who rides his bike across Africa with one leg to teach his country a lesson about handicapped people.
The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill, Documentary: A great movie about a man who hand feeds wild parrots and knows most of them by name.
Touch the Sound, Documentary: This is a wonderful movie about percussionist Evelyn Glennie, who is mostlty deaf. It is amazing to see how a deaf person sees the world, it also makes you appreciate the gift of hearing.
Ringers, Documentary:This is a silly documentary about the followers of Lord of The Rings. It was fun to watch, very interesting to see what people get obsessed with.
Schultze gets the Blues, German, Independent: This is a chuckle out loud movie about a man and his journey to America with his accordion.
The Warrior, Hindi, Independent: A great movie about a man who is tired of the life he has been living as an assassin.
Ushpizin, Jewish, Independent: A really touching movie about a Jewish couple and a test of faith.
The World’s Fastest Indian, Independent: A fun story about a man from New Zealand who travels all the way to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah to see how fast his motorbike “Indian” can go.
So there it is, I try not to recommend movies, since I always seem to like exactly opposite of what critics and others say. For me, these types of movies are the only thing keeping my DVD player from collecting dust.

Movies
On Saturday afternoon Mook and I decided to go see M. Night Shyamalan’s new movie Lady in the Water. All I can say is, Wow, what a good story, and what an awesome way to tell a story on screen.
I have enjoyed all of M. Night’s movies, but this one, next to the 6th Sense is my favorite. The 6th Sense was awesome becasue nobody has every made me go “Wha???” at the end of a movie. Lady in the Water was another first in that it was such a good story that I wanted to belive the story M. Night and all his characters were telling. Of course I knew it wasn’t true, but while I was watching, it was like reading a really good book that you are so into, you just want to be part of the story. You don’t get that very often in a movie.
I also enjoyed seeing M. Night Shyamalan in a bigger role. I don’t think every writer/director can or should give themselves a part in their own movies, but as for M. Night, I personally think he is a better actor than a lot out there. Plus, why not? It is his movie, his story, if you can pull off the acting, then hats off to you.
